high-tech architecture

Centre Georges Pompidou
aka Beaubourg

Centre Pompidou is this National Center of Art and Culture in Paris and one of my favourite museums, designed by the then young architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. It was inaugurated on January 31, 1977.
The center was built during the reign of French President Georges Pompidou, who died before the building was finished. It is one of the most visited monuments in France, with nearly six million visitors a year!!!!

It´s a structure you either love or hate.
I personally love the avant-garde and daring idea, a thoroughly modern set with brightly colored metallic structures that expose everything you normalu want to hide: pipes, ducts and heating service, stairs, etc.
I love it´s contrast with the classical arquitecture of Paris, its just fantastic!

From the top floor you can see one of the most spectacular views of paris!

Currently exhibited the work of one of my favorite artists still alive, Lucian Freud

After spending long hours in the museum, seeing the exhibits, lost in the corridors of the vast library, and of course having gone through the store and the huge bookstore, is crucial to have a drink at the terrace of Georges and enjoy the sunset! There is nothing like it, really!
